Become a Walker Tour Guide
Are you looking for a dynamic volunteer position in the arts? Are you passionate about contemporary art, performance, film, design, and architecture? Become a Walker Art Center tour guide and provide educational and entertaining experiences for young people and adults at a renowned contemporary arts center. The eight-month training class begins in early fall.
Walker tour guides help connect people of all ages with the art and ideas of our time. Our tour guide training program features an in-depth course on modern and contemporary visual and performing art and also covers various teaching and touring techniques. Participants explore ways to lead tours of the Walker's permanent collection, special exhibitions, and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.
The initial sessions are led by Walker staff members and guest lecturers from the local art and art history community. Active guides may continue their training through curator-led tours of special exhibitions, presentations by guest speakers, and other Walker programs and classes.
