What is ECP?
The Education and Community Programs Department (ECP) is dedicated to creating opportunities that deepen and enhance our audiences' experiences, understanding, and appreciation of the art and artists presented by the Walker. Learning is emphasized as a core experience at the Walker through an innovative mix of education programs, community building efforts, and interpretive projects.
The department is divided into eight divisions:
• Community Programs
• Family Programs
• Interpretive Programs
• mnartists.org
• Public Programs
• School Programs
• Teen Programs
• Tour Programs
Each division reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the institution, offering programs and activities in visual art, performing arts, film/video, new media, design, and architecture. To inform and implement these undertakings, ECP staff works closely with Walker curators and partners from a range of local organizations, artists, schools, and community groups. Advisory groups such as the Walker Art Center Teen Arts Council, Tour Guide Council, and the Parent Advisory Group exemplify the rich relationships the Walker strives to build with its diverse audiences.
